Does Your Air Conditioning Unit Need Some TLC?
Having an air conditioning system installed into your business or your home is an investment and it is one that you need to make sure that you look after. You cannot simply install it and leave it to do its own things, in order to make sure that it is working the best it can and that it is going to last a long time, you are going to need to arrange services to be carried out on the entire system. If you have domestic system then this could be once a year, however, for commercial properties it will need to be around the 3-6 month mark.
It may seem like a real hassle to book in a service, however, if you don’t then you could end up with a system that is going to need a spot of TLC, not only making the problem worse, but also more expensive to fix.
But how do you know that your system could need a gentle touch? To help you we have put together some of the signs that something has gone a little wrong with your air conditioning system.
It Doesn’t Smell Great
One tell-tale sign that your air conditioning system isn’t quite up to scratch is a bad smell coming from it. Considering the fact that many people decide to install these systems so that they have fresh and clean air to breathe, this really isn’t going to be what you want. The reason that the air that is coming from the unit is stale or smells a little off is because the filters within the system haven’t been cleaned and cleared properly. Something that can be rectified with a service.
It Is Freezing Up
The evaporator coil within your air conditioning system is incredibly important to the whole thing working, If the coil drops below freezing then the entire unit is going to freeze up, which is incredibly frustrating for you and isn’t something that can fix itself. If left, then you can find that more problems (and more expense) develop. It is important to call an engineer if your system has frozen up. Not only will they be able to find the cause, such as air flow or pressure, but they can also help you to make sure that it is properly fixed and working too.
It Isn’t Working As Well As It Used To
Another key sign that things are not right within your system is that it isn’t working as well as it used to. A loss of performance is not only going to be felt in the temperature of the room that it is in, but also in the amount of energy that you will likely to have used. Usually, a loss of performance is caused by a low airflow over the coil, this could be down to a dirty blower fan, blocked vents or a dirty filter and is relatively easy to fix.
There Is Water Leaking From It
As we have already covered, an air conditioning system will get dirty over time. This dirt can build up and even cause the drain line to become clogged up. This could be due to dirt, sludge and mould, all of which sound pretty yucky. Even more so when they start to leak out of the system when the build up becomes too much.
There are a number of ways that your system could be telling that it needs some TLC, so make sure that you pay attention to it and call one of our engineers to fix the problem as soon as you notice it.
